Sundays are spent visiting the in-laws who live an hour’s drive from home. It’s a lovely day where grannies, grandas, aunts, uncles and cousins of all different generations get together and with 20 or more people in one room things can get a bit mad – but in a good way!
Usually Lucia only wears her shoes for short periods each day as we know they aren’t the best fit on her and we don’t want to do her any damage. However, on Sundays she tends to have them on for four to five hours straight. And today was the first day she had her compression tights on along with her shoes for such an extended period of time.
As you can see from the photo, her shoes keep her foot fully enclosed and when we took her shoes and tights off before bed, her right foot looked and felt amazing! It was so soft, it looked so much flatter than usual and we even think we could almost see an ankle bone and possibly feel the top of her foot! For the first time ever!
The combo of the tights and shoes must have really helped to squeeze the flow of the lymph throughout the afternoon and moved it out of her foot to where it needed to go to drain. This was also probably helped by the fact she was running around like a maniac so her muscles were also pumping it in the right direction.
Rather than her foot feeling firm and filled with fluid it felt like a toddlers little pudgy foot, soft and malleable and for want of a better word delicious! We then spent the next ten minutes just watching her walk about the living room in her bare feet to give her a breather before bed and enjoying the sight of her beautiful little feet and legs.
Wear the shoes more often??
So now comes the question – do we keep her shoes on longer through the day if it is helping her foot as long as it is not to the detriment of her actual feet development? Have we been getting it wrong by not keeping her shoes on all the time? Any advice greatly appreciated!
Oh, and we also got a little excited thinking are we one small step closer to perhaps getting her into a new pair of shoes that fit better? Exciting times!
